Description:
This vase has a broad mouth, a straight neck, a round body, and a footless, flat base that is slightly countersunk. It is called tianqiuping because the form resembles a planet, and it is first made in the imperial kiln of the Yongle era. A band of floral motif, which is framed by two double-lines, decorates the rim, and a three-clawed dragon traipsing through lotuses occupies the vase's body. The scaly dragon stretches its jaw, spurts its tongue, reveals its fang, opens its globular eyes, and strides forward aggressively. It is robust and nimble.
