Description:
|
nscription on the bottom of the belly indicates that it's a product of the Yachou clan. It is a square zun with four different curvatures on its body from top to bottom. The rim of the vessel opens out to form a flaring mouth. The neck recesses, and the shoulder stretches out again. The belly curves inward to forming a slanting foot. The area of the vessel that recesses most sharply is devoid of flanges. Instead, eight freestanding animal heads are attached. They are elephant heads, gui dragonheads, and other animal heads with palm shaped horns. Not only do they not disrupt the curvature of the whole vessel, in a harmonious way, the uniqueness of the animal head carvings are enhanced. This is achieved by the double casting technique. The whole vessel is decorated with bands of patterns, with gui dragons being its predominant motif.
