Description:
|
Just below the rim of this vessel are there groups of long animal masks. Each group uses the short protruding flanges as the nose, and has slightly raised eyes. Their bodies expand in two directions horizontally. Spaces in between are filled with thin-lined cloud-and-thunder patterns Below them is a band of triangular patterns. Inside the triangles are the zoomorphic patterns, also embellished with cloud-and-thunder patterns. The lower half of the body is decorated with three groups of slightly protruding animal masks, but in a much bolder, more unconstrained and unpolished style, which contrasts sharply with the delicate and refined style of the upper half.
