Description:
A reddish jade with a grayish white tinge due to long-term handling, this flat pendant is pierced and carved in low relief, which shows the profile of a bird. It is characterized by a hooked beak, short neck, protruding chest, short tail, and thick feet. A dragon sits or stands on top of the bird head. The dragonhead is large in proportion, and the body is rather short. There are carved ridges on the back of the dragon and the bird. The eyes of the two creatures are typical "chen"-shaped of the late Shang period (14th-11th Century A.D.), and the bird has eyebrows.
