Description:
Since the shape of the body is akin to a cocoon, it is called "cocoon-shaped Hu". This type of Hu is commonly found in tombs from the Warring States and Western Han periods, and it is made of gray earthenware, black earthenware, painted earthenware, etc. Some of the Hu contained grain when they were excavated.Added with the blackish shimmering surface, the body appears sturdy and strong. In the 54th year of the Qian-long era, an inscription, which describes the ways in which Song and Yuan people used ancient ceramic Hu to nurture flowers, was added on both the front and backsides of the body.
