Description:
In Xiqing Inkstone record, this inkstone is described as a "red-vein stone from the old gully." The inkstone is elliptical, and its shape approximates a parrot whose head is sculpted on the upper left corner. The parrot is in a gesture of drinking water with stretched wings holding the sides of the inkstone. The inkstone gives off a light-tone yellow with red veins scattered throughout the piece. The inkstone is flat and smooth, and its inkwell resembles the shape of a half moon. The bottom has a rectangular depression on which a poem composed by Qianlong is carved in kai-shu (regular style) with which he phrases the novelty of the piece. The poem is concluded by an endorsement, "an imperial inscription by Qianlong," and two seals.
