Description:

At the end of Spring Dawn on the Cinnabar Terrace, there is a signature, "Painted by Wen Boren of Wupeng," but it lacks a date. In the midst of the rugged mountains, a railing wraps around, a group of trees stand, and a waterfall plunges rapidly straight down. In the forest, a youth carries a flower basket on a pole, walking. The basket is filled with lingzhi fungi. Behind the forest, a small path goes to the mountain top, and a Daoist stand atop a smooth, flat stone like a platform, watching his cinnabar tripod. The painting demonstrates a use of Wen Zhengming's elegant and graceful style. The use of brush and ink is harmonious and cultivated. Spring Dawn on the Cinnabar Terrace belongs among Wen Boren's finest compositions. Wen Boren expressed a strong interest in Daoist subjects and utopian beliefs. This was not the only time he has painted this subject matter.
