Description:
The lotus leave is coiled inwards imitating the Xi style (washing style), a term used since the Jin dynasty to include general washing vessels or stationary. The surface of the leaf is lightly carved with leaf branches and veins. On one end, there is a lotus flower and a pair of frogs underneath. Next to it is a hairy crab climbing a stalk of wheat that is full with seeds. On the other side is a pair of magpies, the symbol for a happy marriage. The lotus and crab symbolize harmony because their Chinese characters are phonetically the same as the characters of harmony. Likewise, wheat symbolizes years. The combination of these objects represents a wishing of "years of harmony." The stand is made of red sandalwood.
