Description:
|
The white body of this bowl contains a slight yellow tinge, and it manifests a sense of tenderness. The interior is plain, whereas the exterior is decorated with plums, and white plum blossoms, sepals, and buds sprout from the strong branches. The profile and frontal image of the flowers are delicately depicted and each has a distinctive expression. Setting against the ruby ground, the white plums on the branches with bamboo convey the vernal season in the colorful palette consisted of red, white, black, and green enamels. Therefore, it is a lively genre. In the sixth year of the Yongzheng period, the Qing court invented famille rose, and applied it on a few types of Jingdezhen biscuit wares.Evidently, famille rose porcelains are solely made for the emperor's appreciation. The fine stigmas of this bowl reflect the delicacy of the painting.
