Description:
|
He is a type of wine mixing vessel with lid. The full and robust belly is supported by three feet, and the lower part resembles the shape of a ge. Above one of the feet is a handle in the shape of an ox-head. In between the other two feet is a tube-shaped spout, protruding out at a 45- degree angle, which is designed to pour wine. Three identical characters are inscribed on the lid and behind the handle. The first character, is transcribed as a horizontally placed ge, represents a ge placed inside a cabinet, and therefore implies the storing of weaponry. Having this character as a clan sign indicates that the official of this clan is responsible for keeping weapons. Below the clan sign is transcribed Fu Ding, indicating that this he is used for the ancestral worship of father ding.
