Description:
It is a dou-shaped vessel used to contain an assortment of dishes, just like the high foot plate we see today. The vessel has a lid; its form is extraordinary with the attachment of four flanges of openwork design on the cover, and the raised ring foot also covered in openwork. The entire vessel is decorated with thin bands of interlaced dragon motifs. It is the popular animal motif of bronze decoration during the Spring and Autumn period, around the 6th century B.C. The vessel is full of delicate and grandiose beauty. By imagining the way it was meant to be viewed at an ancestral temple in the Spring and Autumn period, one can understand the sensation the original golden color on this vessel must have given to the eye.
