Description:
|
This vessel has a square mouth and a square foot. Four sides of the belly bulge out and taper down toward the bottom. Attached to each of the four shoulders is a lug handle. The body is large and heavy, which is designed to contain wine. The rim of the vessel is decorated with repeat diamond patterns, and the body is decorated with zoomorphic bird and gui dragons. Since the bodies of both animals are already geometricized, some appear as square hooks and others as spiral curves. The interlacing of lines weaves fluidly like spiral cloud patterns. At the same time, all the designs are inlaid with small and thin pieces of red copper plates. This is a detailed and tedious technique especially popular in the Spring and Autumn period.
