Description:
The piece imitates a piece of withered lotus leaf that coils into a triangular-shaped cup. The rim of the leaf is wrinkled and wavy. The red veins on the surface resulted from carving on the brown jade. The petiole curves into a circle at the bottom and suspend upwards along the side. Besides the purpose of achieving aesthetic appeal, the circle at the bottom and the dangling petiole on the side fulfil the function of a cup foot and a cup handle. The cup is accompanied with a red sandalwood stand whose multi-layered formation imitates a lotus flower. Because the stand has simple and amiable design, it brings out the elegance and gracefulness of the jade cup.
