Description:
This green jade shows an uneven tinge of green with a semi-translucent, brownish red speck of varying hue.The plain disc has four sharp teeth at the edge, and between any two teeth is a set of fine teeth. All the teeth are blunt, especially the squared set-teeth, which is a common Shang Dynasty feature. A conjecture is that this type of tooth-discs are rare, and only a few have been excavated. Many scholars considered the toothed-disc as an astronomical device called "chuanji" in the past, but this perspective has been rejected.
