Description:
Carved of green nephrite, the cup shows brownish yellow specks in an area. The cup and the foot are oval in shape. The handle resembles a phoenix, whose beak and claws hold onto the rim and whose long tail floats freely in the air. The contour is smooth and rhythmical. The neck of the phoenix arches, the wings wrap tightly around the body, and the cloud-like tail rests quietly on the exterior of the cup. This oval shape vessel with a handle carved in an animal form was popular in the late Ming and early Qing period.
