Description:
Carved of green nephrite, this piece represents a grotto. An old tree stands next to it, and a Luohan leans on the tree and sits on the ground. The lively Gudapanthaka Luohan has eyebrows of longevity, long earlobes, and a smiling countenance. His middle and index fingers point out as though he has a realization. This jade is a valuable source in studying the relationship between jade carving and painting of the mid Qing period.
