Description:
The ink is round in shape with a raised rim. Five cakes of ink in vermilion, yellow, green, indigo, and white are kept in a square wooden casket. Each cake has the same inscription and decoration because they are produced from the same mold. On one side, there is a silver-inlaid inscription, "Gold and hard Buddhist wheel of law" in li-shu (square style). The other side is decorated with Sanskrit writing and wheels of law surrounded by clouds. The two sides have embossed inscriptions; one writes, "The ink used by Monk Tang" (the monk in Journey to the west); the other is an endorsement, "Produced by Fang Yulu."
