Description:
The Old Fisherman is by Wu Zhonggui (Wu Zhen's style name). Using unusually dark ink, he paints in the style of Juran. Although the brushwork is abbreviated, it nonetheless is full of meaning. This painting depicts an autumn river at dawn on a clear day. Only a single boat is out. Beneath two trees in the foreground there are only two trees, a grassy path leads to a pavilion. On the opposite bank, the hills rise and fall. A little stream winds about. Not a single one of Wu's brushstrokes is wasted.
