Description:
This water holder is carved from a piece of bamboo root unearthed from the ground. The bamboo is carved into the shape of a rolled up lotus leaf whose body is curved back to form a tunnel-looking end. The lower part of the holder is attached to a chased lotus flower; the lotus seeds in the flower center are clearly identifiable. This water holder was appreciated by the literati more as an art object than as a functional object.
