Description:
|
A Ruyi with three inlays. The white jade inlaid on the elliptical head is embossed with a Ming decorative motif of cloud and a parent dragon and a little dragon surrounded by asters and leaves. The stem bulges in the middle and is inlaid with an elliptical white jade embossed with another Ming decorative motif of two dragons playing with a ball. The tip is inlaid with a round white jade, also embossed with two dragons playing with a ball. The stem is embossed with the "Paintings of the ancient pieces" which is based on an imperial painting collection from the palace of Emperor Faizhong of northern Song. The embossment is composed of a copper vessel for eatery, a ding (a bronze cooking ware), a vase with flowers and branches on which a qing (a bell, musical instrument) and fish are hung. The lower part is embossed with a square ding, a vase with a plum tree, caskets and books, etc. The stem becomes wider towards the tip. The back has silver-inlaid inscription of a spring song made during the thirty-eighth year of the Qianlong reign. Another carved inscription inlaid with red paint writes, "Officer Minchung and Jinshu." The tip is attached with a pair of light yellow tassels, and a decorative knot.
