Description:
|
The rim of the rectangular pot is a flat flange, and the four feet form a platform. The body and the glaze are very thick. The crackles are multi-layered as though they were cracks on ice. The glaze color is emerald with a tinge of white. Along the platform foot are runny glaze that shapes like green pearls. The glaze runs thin on the cornered edges of the flange, and they are light brown in color. The foot discloses the clay body, which is dark brown. The literati call the coloration of the rim and foot as "purple rim and iron foot". Since this ware is rather thick with a broad surface, eight pegs arranged in rectangular shape were used to support the pot evenly, so that it would not be distorted during the firing process.
