Description:
A pair of hairpins. The Ruyi's head is formed by a gold-gilt filigreed platform inlaid with red amber and red gems, and leaves in the green-feathered design. A yellow skill slip comes with this piece, and it writes, "This pair of Ruyi hairpins was received on the sixth day of the second month in the twelfth year of the Jianqing reign." Note: when Emperor Guangxu picked his Empress, his mother, Empress Xixi, had put a pair of hairpins on the chosen one's hairdo. It is speculated that this pair of hairpins was the original one that Empress Ci-xi used.
